Current Projects
Since 2010, the Language Institute's leadership has
endeavoured to implement the computerization of examinations for English and
foreign languages. Considerable efforts have been made to complete this,
ranging from a comprehensive review of all questions to the exclusion of
inappropriate ones. The classification of the questions is determined by the
level of difficulty. and thus, their classification according to their
linguistic structure, in preparation for their download to the Operational
Program.
Collaboration
is currently underway with NATO's International Language Coordination Office
to accredit the Language Institute as an accredited STANAG 6001 examination
center.
Computing purposes
- Ensure accuracy, effectiveness and integrity of exams
- Extract the results of the examination electronically
and save time, effort and stationery.
- Determine the level and degree of examination based on
the target group.
- Ensure that examination forms are not repeated.
Stages of computerization
- The institute established a database and classified
approximately 5,000 listening and reading questions in Excel.
- The testing department included the test items in
another evaluation program (Oracle).
- The testing department categorizes questions into lists
according to their degree of difficulty. The categories enable the level of
difficulty of the examination to
be determined automatically.
- The testing department refines the tests items by
eliminating questions that performed poorly.
- The language institute has equipped 7 computer labs
with a capacity for 210 students.
