Section History In
recognition of the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces represented by JAFLI , and because of the importance of languages as a mean of communication among nations, the Spanish Language Section was established
in 2003 at the language institute. The aim of its establishment was to qualify
officers and non-commissioned officers of the Arab army and security services
in the field of the Spanish language so they can participate in military
courses. The Spanish course relies on the four skills defined in the Common
European Framework of Reference for Languages (CECRL) in order to raise the
cultural level of the educated officers and to meet the need of learning this
language according to the required duties. Therefore, more than 28 basic Spanish
language courses have been held and more than 265 officers have graduated from the Spanish course. Courses And Evaluation Basic
courses for Spanish language are held at all levels (on average twice a year),
with the possibility of holding intermediate and advanced courses, upon
request. The section receives about 10 officers in each course from the
various branches of the Jordan Armed Forces - the Arab Army and the security
services for a period of 23 weeks, with a total of 690 hours, at a rate of 6
study hours per day. The curriculum (Sueña) adopts (A1-A2) levels and uses
modern and various training methods including the use of worksheets and
audio-visual materials. Students'
level of linguistic comprehension is assessed through periodic written exams,
listening exams and oral exams. Also, interviews are conducted to measure the
student's acquisition of basic language skills (reading, writing, speaking and
listening) that are in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for
Languages (CECRL). At the end of the
course, the student obtains a certificate from the institute at level (A2), and
the student can apply for the Spanish (DELE) exam at any time. Cooperation And Coordination
The aim of
maintaining contact is to build bridges of communication between the section and the international institutes and to meet their needs in the field of
specialization. There is close cooperation between the language institute
(Spanish Language Section), the Spanish Military Attaché, and the Cervantes
Institute in Amman through official communication channels.
