A joint workshop with the U.S. Embassy commenced at the Military Language Institute for a duration of two weeks, attended by Colonel Hassan Haider Al-Maaytah, Commander of the Military Language Institute. The workshop was also attended by Dr. Abdel Azim Sultan, Assistant Regional English Language Programs Officer, Dr. Lattie Baker, Regional English Language Programs Officer, and Ms. Danielle Stevens, an expert in English teaching.

 

The events began with a speech by Colonel hussan Al-Maaytah, who thanked the embassy members for responding to this initiative, praising its role in developing teachers' capabilities and raising their academic standards. Colonel hussan Al-Maaytah emphasized the importance of this workshop in enhancing academic cooperation between the two sides, noting that the workshop would provide teachers with modern tools and methodologies to help improve the quality of education provided to students. He added that the development of curricula, teaching methodologies, and exam design are vital areas that contribute to building an educated generation capable of facing current and future linguistic challenges.

Dr. Lattie Baker explained that this workshop is the result of long-term cooperation between the U.S. Embassy in Jordan and the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army. She pointed out that the workshop would focus on three main areas: curriculum development, teaching methodologies, and exam design. Baker added that these areas aim to enhance teachers' efficiency and equip them with the necessary tools to improve the educational process. She emphasized that curriculum development would include incorporating the latest updates and educational technologies to ensure the delivery of advanced and effective educational content. The workshop will also include training sessions on innovative teaching methodologies that focus on enhancing interaction between teachers and students, in addition to designing assessment exams that align with the desired educational objectives.

The events began with an open discussion session between the participants and the embassy team to share experiences, ideas, and aspirations for the workshop's conclusion. The participants emphasized the importance of continuing such events to enhance academic cooperation and exchange experiences between the two sides, staying informed about the latest updates, technologies, and methodologies in language teaching.
